I have broken my vows to work till the bitter end because of this photo.This is the first time I have published a photo that I did not take, in fact I was not anywhere near when it was taken last August.
It arrived today from my dear friend X, as a response to me and my own shadow yesterday.
This is her & her husband, somewhere in Portugal. It made me laugh so much that I got her permission to post it here.
Then it gave me an idea: to make Long-Shadow Jumping an Olympic event. First we need entrants. Send in your shadows to me. They can be entries to the singles event, like mine, or doubles or multiples.
Guinness needs to know, at least, who has the world's longest shadow. So start training now!
Maybe next summer, I'll organize a shadow party. Just for the shadows....

J'ai pensé à toi ce soir en revenant de promenade, mon mari et moi on avaient de très grandes ombres.
Ma tête doit être fatiguée ce soir, je croyais avoir commenté sur ce message.
En tout cas c'est beaux deux ombres, et sur du sable c'est encore plus beau.
On peut laisser jouer l'imagination.

Je vais te dire: les ombres sont malhonnêtes: je suis beaucoup plus mince que mon mari et comme je regardais les ombres et que lui était en train de marcher de profil, jétais très large et mon mari était comme une statue de giaccometti !
Ceci s'ajoute à leurs mensonges sur les longueurs de jambes.

We had a fantastic photo taken on the beach of our shadows about 3 years ago, but the hard drive died, and while tampering with it, we lost about 600 photos (and a lot of other things...) I have short shadows, though, so I'll send you a couple just to get in the spirit of things.... (We are short people anyway!)

How neat! This makes me think of a song called Shadows on a CD called The Complex (by the Blue Man Group). Here are the lyrics: "Sometimes my shadow leads or it follows me, but we never seem to become one and the same". Those are the entire lyrics of the song, lol. I love it though, interesting though, very nicely done song. I am glad you posted these shadow photographs. There is something mysterious about shadows, though we can understand what creates them. I remember as a child being fascinated by mine and trying to step on it before it moved away.

hmmm .. to get the longest shadow .. the best time to take it is early morning or close to evening. The angle matters :)
