It looks both sad and comforting to see January again. I can't find the pictures in sushine, but I promised her Paço d'Arcos and here it is.
The sea and the water spout is just across the road. And the full moon (digital) rising above it was last September.

Paço de Arcos, foi visitada pela raínha D.Maria 2ª ( 1818-1853 ) que passava férias na Real Quinta de Caxias.Alguns dos principes eram visitas habituais do Palácio dos Arcos
Ainda bem que gostas do meu Paço de Arcos.Neste momento temos as festas da Vila. há luzes, musica e FARTURAS", un doce muito popular na nossas feiras.

Meg, If only you could understand mai reis' comment below, which explains a little. The ochre-walled building was the Palácio de Arcos, which gave the ditrict its name. Accommodated members of the Royal Family through the ages (sorry, can't be more specific - try Google)until Queen Maria in the first half of the 19th century. As far as I remember, nothing happens there much these days.....Portugal is a republic now.

Mami reis, agradeço esta informação, mas porventura, sabes quando foi construido o palácio? Quanto à feira (os pescadores? A Nossa Senhora de....?), me recordo muito bem passar aí várias vezes, jantar.Assim como a feira no jardim nos domingos.
Wouldn't that make a beautiful place for artists' collective, or an old people's residence/gathering place? It's so elgant (and maybe even more so because it's been neglected.)

But thewn, there is A LOT of the 13th to 18th century still in Portugal. In many places around the country, it just seems that it can't afford its own huge heritage.

pienso que el invierno puede estar en cualquier mes del año, así como el sol y tibieza del verano podemos tenerlo dentro aun bajo la nieve :)
