  6. I've never been very fond of flower photographs, I don't really know why, but this set is gorgeous, especially the last two (maybe because of the assymetry, or the close up without showing the whole flower, I don't know).
P.S. thanks for stopping by my art journal! (the name of the river is Fervença - doesn't look much of a river, but there are otters in it!)

  11. Don't get me wrong, S., I do love flowers (actually, I've always been a bit sorry of having specialised in fauna instead of flora, but by the time I was studying biology, choosing "fauna" meant nature conservation and "flora" meant working in a lab, so...
I was thinking about it and I believe this issue of mine with the floral photographs may have to do with two things:
tourism advertising - especially of the Algarve and Madeira, with all those pictures of big colourful and usually South African flowers that have nothing to do with us
medical advertising - there were tons of prints to be collected, many of them of the same huge and colourful exotic flowers, all looking really artificial, as if made of plastic.
Needless to say, nothing of this has anything to do with your beautiful photographs...

  12. Icarus you posted a comment on my blog THANKS!!
I posted also a comment on your other 'informative' blog, but this blog & flowers are amazingly well composed, and not (!) to name the colours...ohhh so beautifull, Just what we need here in Holland, we've had ONLY rain so-far... and that is called summer? Soon (Friday)we leave for better weather (SUNholiday) so I hope to blog-meet you again after our holiday.

    Sunny greetings from JoAnn

  13. Well, I always seem to have a favorite, and this time I"ll pick one that nobody else has chosen: the one you did with the flash. I usually HATE flash photography but this is something special - the stark sharp bright flower and black background. It's not "lovely" like the others but it's the most interesting and beautiful, I think!

  14. Wow, you've clearly entered into a blue phase. The first and the last of these look like they're underwater. Where were these taken?
